St. Francis Cemetery, Glebe St., Taunton MA

In a small corner at the back of the cemetery, there is a cluster of several very early Irish graves. The dates range from 1831-1858, and they are much older than the other burials in the rest of the cemetery. St. Francis is in the west end of present-day Taunton, and probably would have been a distinct settlement/village in the early to mid-1800s from the central part of the town where St. Mary's Cemetery is located. These early gravestones are all listed together first, and those in the newer main part of the cemetery follow.
